Connecting the Dots

I was born in Vietnam and spent 18 years in France. In Paris, I studied art at Atelier Roederer and cooking at Cordon Bleu. With my sister, I created a fashion company that designed a line of ready-to-wear clothing for Yves Saint Laurent.

Each of these was a different way that I could explore and express my creativity.

In 1985 I moved to the United States, where I opened a French restaurant and jazz club in San Jose before moving to San Francisco. There, I opened Peasant Pies, a bakery that is now in its 27th year.

I have been studying painting and drawing in San Francisco for the past 13 years at University of California Berkeley Extension and San Francisco City College.

For the past four years I have been a docent at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, specializing in German Expressionism and Pop Art.

Presently I create work using acrylic and pastel on canvas, as well as applying various media to my original photos. In my works I explore landscapes, portraiture, figure drawing, and abstraction.

Among my major influences are aboriginal dot painting and pointillism.
